There you go.....

Just scroll down the page for English coins. I've set it to that, but there are obviously other options.

lol ~ Item No 1857: 1905 shilling, item description reads as follows:-

Shilling 1905 ESC 1414 bright NVF/VF with contact marks (we have seen 1905 Shillings similar to this graded 'for type' as EF on eBay changing hands in the £500-£1000 range)

I think what they're saying here is 'ow, Burt, it's not fair (stamps foot on floor), why can't we just say NEF? EBay gets away with it, do you really think anyone would notice (winks eye at colleague)?'

Godwin gets on the PC replying 'don't worry, I have a plan, and I shall say zis only wunse, let's use our new "eBay Price Guide" to set the estimate (winks at his colleague, and sucks back a little bit of spittle and pea juice from the corner of his mouth)!'

So, the first official acknowledgement that eBay are the world market leaders is numismatics, who would've thought it? 'The eBay Auction Price Guide for Numismatists'!

The trouble is Ebay worldwide shift more coins (and crap) than all the rest of the dealers on the planet. The Yanks have actual price lists and try to reach exact grading....and we still operate "cash is king" at fairs, auctions and dealers.I did witness an American trying to insist a dealer at the Midland accepts his offer based on his price list....he didn't :)

You always get the odd one trying it on. It's normally "Spink price is only blah blah". I often feel like giving them a Brick Top line from Snatch in reply "When I throw a dog a bone I don't wanna know if it likes the taste or not"

Cheers for that. Some nice looking pennies. I could end up remortgaging my house. The last time i did that i ended up with a rather large aquarium. :o

Just spent some time going through all the pennies listed and, with one exception, found that only the copper coins really interest me this time around. The top grade early Victorian bronze seems rather sparse, unfortunately.

Hmm, thought I was the only one that noticed that...None for me, no competition...

I'm saving a lot of money this month since I got blown away on the few Bentley sovs I thought a bit interesting.

I guess time to settle back and REALLY be patient ala a trap door spider.

Anybody else made a bid on anything AND received an acknowledgement ?

I haven't yet had anything for my two bids, but I did get an e mail receipt when my e mail was read, as I track them.

Nope, made a bid a couple of weeks ago but have heard nothing, could you let me know if/when you do?

I had a card put through the letterbox yesterday saying a parcel needed collecting from the post office with a fee to pay. I sent the wife hot footing down there to collect it as I couldn't think what it could be. It turned out to be their catalogue with no postage on it. Don't mind getting a free copy but don't expect to have to pay £2.40 for it.

I like to see London coins slightly over grade (IMO)there will be a couple of bids banging twice estimate(don't worry 1D boys or you silver slappers) and if I don't get what I want I will take a wheelbarrow to the next Midland.

It is part of the fun and the chase.Last November I left 5 bids on Ebay coins whilst visiting the Midland (spent a wee bit too much there)

Then I won 4 of the Ebay coins)Exit stage right Peter ;)

Bit of a cheek. Probably an oversight on their part, but even so..

Well apparently all over now, but I've not heard a single solitary thing. Don;t know how many bids there were for anything, how much was bid, whether my bids were successful or otherwise, or even where to find the results.

Anybody else heard anything ?

I didn't attend this time or leave any proxy bids either. Saving for a couple of nice acquisitions in the coming week or so, hopefully. :)
