The Queens Diamond Jubilee...

Recommended Posts

I watched the concert, on and off yesterday. I must say, that I thought Prince Charles's speech at the end was quite nice. I am not a royalist, but good on her Maj!

Let's hope she can celebrate a Platinum Jubilee!

I sat through the whole thing - I must say that for me, the best thing was the amazing projections on the front of Buck House, especially when Madness were playing on the roof.

This all brings a very good question. I've been thinking recently, when will she step down, My conclusion is she wants to beat Victoria as longest serving Monarch. Anyone else?

They don't step down. It is like being Pope or an annoying tit like Simon Cowell, a job for life! They only abdicate if they are shagging an American divorcee and I think Liz is a wee bit long in the tooth for that one.

I think HM the Queen has been very loyal to her vows as Queen and stoically done her duty. True she has done it in great comfort but would a president have done it in less comfort? I don't think she'll abdicate as she would not be doing what she said she would.

I have enjoyed the jubilee and been reassured by the display of loyalty from the public. Long may she reign, at least long enough to beat Victoria RI.

Watched the concert on and off too, and feeling the urge to say something I have felt for a long time ... great lyrics and music, but Sir Elton and Sir Paul can't actually sing very well at all!!!! There, off to the tower with me!

Actually, they WERE in tune! But you're probably right, not as rich vocals as they had when younger.

Is it just me or did both Grace Jones and the wonderfully rear-ended Kylie Minogue not look a day older than when they were having hits all those years ago?

I thought it was sad how their voices had weakened. As for Cheryl Cole, well, I don't think she was in tune, unlike Kylie and Grace (who I am amazed to see is 64! Perhaps hula hooping keeps you young because I agree, she looked great!)

I'd have liked to see Ozzy or some of the other 'old rockers' but hey, it was fun for what it was. And I didn't have to stand around in the cold to see it!

I thought Sir Cliff was the worst, and what was Grace Jones on.

I agree! They were legends in their day, but their voices were just good in my opinion. Now, Stevie Wonder... that man can sing! I enjoyed his performance.

Yeah, that looked amazing!.. how the layers of projection seemed to peel off the palace, good stuff.

I went to pageant very early Sunday morning. I had one my brothers high vis jackets on he'd given me. Waterproof and very snug. I walked onto Lambeth bridge without being searched. I was on the bridge for a few minutes when approached by a very high ranking police officer. He said " I am lead to believe you are the bridge commander!" No I said, I'm just a bloke in a high vis jacket.

Police Officer "Where is the bridge commander then?"

Me "I have know idea"

Very odd day. Got stopped by members of the public for directions and were could they stand.

All because of a new brightly coloured jacket! B)
