Half normal thickness 1975 5 new pence

Recommended Posts

I kept hold of a 1975 5 new pence that was half the thickness of normal ones because i thought it unusual. Im now older and none the wiser, would anyone care to enlighten me on this one?

Thanks

Unable to comment on the 1975 5p, but get a bunch of 1992 10p's (very easy to find), and put them side by side. Then observe the different thicknesses.

Peckris -charging camera! I suspect 1949threepence may have a point.

Not necessarily. The 1992 tiny 5p coins do have very variable thicknesses, mostly due to the width of the rims only. The same thing doesn't apply to the earlier large 5p, not in my recollection anyway. Pictures would be useful.
