1994 50p Die Crack?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am new to the forum, and hobby. I just posted another topic about my collecting interests and looking for some advice but here I want to specifically ask about a coin that I have had for many years which might be considered a die crack. Back in 1994 when I was in school I picked up 2 50p D-Day anniversary coins (b/c of my interest in WW2). I have had these ever since, however, one of them has a line across the left side and I have to say as a kid I was not too happy that my nice new coin was not perfect.

With that said, does anyone know exactly what would have caused this, my theory is a die crack, and is this worth anything more than 50p.

David

It is a die crack and the first I've seen on this issue, but won't add any value.

I agree, but strangely, if there are a few that turn up and they become a recognised variety, then it might later on attract a value. But those are big "ifs". Unique misstrikes or die cracks are very unsought after in this country (apart perhaps from brockages).

Hi. I love coins with errors. Die cracks, blobs, double strikes etc i don't care if it isn't how it should be then i like some others will collect it. I would pay more fore an example with an error so yes to your question it is worth more than 50p. :D

£8.99. I wanted it and now it's mine. Another one to add to my cracked die collection.

It never ceases to amaze me what the main focus for a collection can be! Excellent :)
