Bit off topic from the thread, but I am having so much trouble trying to make my mind up to pick myself a nice hammered coin for my collection.

There are several on Clives website that I like the look of, I just can not decide to go with my head or heart!

There are two for example, one is described "as struck", amazing clear portrait and legend, this is my head saying "buy that one!". The other has less clear detail, is more worn, is a very "round" coin with central strike, dark tone, but it just appeals to me so much... almost has a little personality! (if a coin can have such a thing), this one my heart tells me to buy.

As long as the price is right, go with your heart - personal opinion! You want a coin you will love and admire when you look at it, for all the right eye appeal and maybe quirky reasons! Put it this way, if it was me and I went for the other one, I would be forever remembering the one that got away ...

Or get them both!

Amazing, 69 downloads and just a handful of comments on the coin lol. Coppers, should we get you some JAM JAR spex to find the lustre? Or has your comp gone tits up?

Bit late to the party, but here's my twopence worth on your tuppence

I'd grade at GEF, touching AUNC. Shame there's no lustre as this does seem to be required for the higher valuations. Really tiny edge knock, small excess metal on edge and scuffing to Britannia's knee but a very tidy coin.

Edit: Just noticed you said 'lots of lustre'. It doesn't show in the scan but an even nicer coin then!

I agree choose what is attractive to you, the chances are that if and when you do come to sell, another buyer will probably take the same view.....hopefully

EF reverse, the obverse better. Probably gEF with the small rim mark. I'm not getting the lustre either.

Lol, i think a majority of us are fiesty buggers when talking about our passion of coins Mr P, all in good fun though

It gets heated in here sometimes though eh lol
