I wonder if he realises that his Web address has a spelling mistake in it. I'll leave it to Peck to chastise him for it

Hi guys,

Sorry about that, was in a bit of a rush and posted the wrong link. As for the spelling mistake, I'm a writer, of course it was deliberate! It's due to the fact that we have a lot of American readers and they spell it differently. So I would thank you not to send silly emails to the newsdesk, or you may end up being laughed at.

If you would like me not to post content to the forum, please say so and I won't. However, I thought it would be of interest as you are British coin collectors, saves you fishing around for news all day.

Thanks.

Joe

The catalogue appeared before your post was made, as had the email from Baldwins announcing the sale along with the Bentley sovereigns pt.2.

Content is fine - we probably thought it was just spam (looking at the original link), but if you have links to coin auctions online that you think we might be interested in, please go ahead.

As a P.S., the general American ignorance that there is an alternative way of spelling English - as used by the rest of the planet, and present company excepted of course - is fairly mind boggling. After all, we Brits know pretty much all the American English variants, so why shouldn't they know ours? Rant over.

Paul theres great banter here when something funny comes along and if you read many of the posts, theres usually a remark regarding daves spelling, but thank you for clarifying........we now know that dave is in fact a pseudo yank and not jockinese after all :D:D:D

once a scot always a scot, taffy tommy paddy etc etc......good, .......okays here the wiki quote.

Although "collectable" is the spelling listed first for the adjective by the Oxford English Dictionary and is standard spelling in British English, the dictionary observes that the "-ible" form is also valid and this has come to be the common spelling in the United States.

so just proves these colonials dont speak proper english like wot we does. :)

I am reliably informed by MacGoogle that peely wally doesn't just mean 'pale', it also means 'off colour' or 'unwell' or 'doing without self abuse'. But perhaps it's a while since you were in Glasgow??? <-- Frage Zeichnen, ja?

Oh of course. I'm sure we can both agree though, that if it HAD been an inadvertent typo, it was a gloriously funny one!
