What should I get?

Recommended Posts

I've got £100 to spend at Christmas on some coins and I've seen two coins that are really nice, but i can only afford one. So i was wondering if i could have any help with my decision making.

So the coins are:

- King William III Crown (1696) in VF Condition

- King George I Shilling (1715) in VF+ Condition

Any Help???

They both are far to cheap for the grades you suggest.

Post some pictures.

Agreed, they would have to be Fine or thereabouts at that price!

This is what a 1696 Crown in VF should look like (or very marginally less) :

And you should judge the George I shilling on the same basis.

I'd rate that between VF and EF to be honest ;)

What, not EF details?

Interestingly, two different R punches on the reverse! ;)

Nice R's :) The obverse is really nice.A weaker strike on obverse EF details ;)

I would snap up both for £100 :)

FiftyPercentSilver, as an idea to help you choose which coin you want to spend your money on, perhaps you may find it helpful to look up the history connected with whichever coin you are inclined to consider as a potential purchase - and see which one interests you most. Good luck, happy searching, and please do share with the forum which coin you end up buying.
