Hmmm, it's difficult Cliff. Personally I would go with BP1865Bb for the following reasons;

- The bottom curve of the 3 is barely visible, whereas in Bc it's extremely visible.

- The tail of the 5 extends much further past the downward stroke of the 5, more so in Bb than Bc

- You can't see anything just under the downward stroke of the 5 (like Bb) but you can just in Bc.

Again, it's difficult and it could be wear that's the overall look of it.

BP1865Bd????? as promised.

Thanks for the response Nordle11, I've been busy this week so haven't been able to reply sooner or have a proper look but should be able to find some time this week.

I don't know if it was of my doing but your response and my two pics of the second 1865/3 (that I'd temporally given as BP1865Bd?????) seemed to have merged into the one post and showed two of the first batch and the two pics of the second coin (on this PC at any rate).  Cack handed me or the result of a simultaneous transmission?

I'm not too sure Cliff, it looks OK on my laptop though! (seperate posts)

I reckon Cliff's probably is a Bb, as is mine, pictured here, although the diagonal stroke of the three from the top of the five, is pretty much absent from mine.

Don't know if you've seen them but there's been, at least, 4 up for sale on eBay over the last week or so.  3 of them are still there all BIN at £149, £275 and £500) and one went off earlier this evening (don't think it sold).

I was watching this one that ended about a week ago, but it looked an awful lot like the original one Accumulator posted so I didn't bid on it. It sold for £37.80 in the end..

I had that bookmarked too but, in the end, decided not to bid. The bit poking out from under the five (top left) looks fine but it was what I see under, and to the right, of the down stroke of the five which put me off. That couldn't possibly be the down stroke of a three. Still, maybe my loss. Who knows?

Looks more like a 1 under that 5 than any other number, were the bottom part has been totally removed and only the left hand top serif can be seen and the top part of the down stroke from behind the downward stroke of the 5. However there also seems to be something coming out from the back of the 5's curve. Strange!
