I came across this penny from 1858.

Looks like an 8 over 3 but I am not a 'penny guy' and would appreciate the thoughts of those who are more expert than me.

Type 1, with W.W., larger date (11 beads) CP 1858 A.

I don't believe 1858 over 3 exists. The 'traditionally accepted' one with the flaw across the date I think is over a 7. I posted something to this effect in the last few months but can't remember in which thread.

Michael Gouby lists a very comprehensive review of the various 1858 penny types. They can be found here

He is of the same mind as Rob ~ that 1858/3 does not exist ("very unlikely")
