The first time I have "tried" to use their online bidding software....what a nightmare

Is it just me or is this the single most useless piece of online bidding software around....I notice there are not many internet bids....I wonder why!!!

Described as powerful and sophisticated and operated by a market leader.........oh dear

I just tried to go on the elephant shilling. Having worked up to that point - it froze and said passed, which is a load of b*****ks.

I don't bother bidding at all unless I'm in London. The software is totally flawed. Sigh.

I could understand it from a small regional auction house but this is ridiculous

Utter shite but i think the flaw is stemming from using the sound. I used it several times and it froze, am now just watching without sound and it seems to be going ok so far, but it's still shite. Oh and lot 859 for you farthing boys went at 700 quid.

Just waiting on the 2 Northumberlands to arrive in a few moments lots 897 and 898

And the only other lot I was interested in when I tried to bid said I had been outbid and wouldn't accept it or the lot had sold - that despite the bid button asking for what the auctioneer was calling. What a complete shambles. I wouldn't mind if it was above my limit, but I was prepared to go to more than they sold for.

I just bid on a proof, it said bid sent and then nothing...and then it sold to someone else again for less than I would have been willing to pay :(

I think it's lagging Colin, so what you thought you bidded on had actually probably finished

No. Having tried out the exciting website experience I don't want to risk my blood pressure thanks. But I sympathise with all of you that were thwarted by the technology.

My I suggest an email to Berdia Qamarauli (bqamarauli@spink.com) Head of IT? Or Mike Veissid.

If enough people complain ....

... or not.

I've spoken to their I.T department on two occasions in the past about the appalling user experience aligned to so many even basic things not working correctly....on both occasions you could 'feel' from the tone that they were uninterested in what was being said...or maybe it was just their way..or perhaps I was boring them rigid..either way I wouldnt bother wasting your time with them.

However, now Mike Vessid is there, I think that he could be worth talking to and I will.

Yes. Ive emailed a number of times since August last year to do with the website and in particular search and archive search functions. But still the problems remain.

Having said that, I believe the internet has been slow generally today. BBC: Global internet slows after 'biggest attack in history'

So it may not be entirely down to Spink ...

What a 'pleasing' elephant - 1666 too - I must get me one of those one day, and a CII plumes of course, bit rich for me at the moment - £2,100 as I expect you know

I knew what it was currently at because the sound was ok. The problem was the bid button didn't refresh or allow any action which was worse than useless. I wonder if it froze because I hit the bid button immediately the lot came up. Whatever, it was unusable. It was a decent coin too.

Did anyone question the "mattieness" of the 1950 matte florin? It just did not look like the '51 or '53 mattes I've seen...I did not even bother to bid.

900 for the 1880 florin? Why? Must be a micro-varietal, is all I can figure. I love these florins but can not see that price at all.

Like Colin G I had walked away by this point. Despite my best efforts to spend some money, it was not to be, so I engaged in an income producing activity.

Spinks have destroyed their Website, and their search facility ,and their photos are rubbish.

I used to find their photo quality to be the best there was. Now its pretty well the worst,

and I find I just cannot judge the true grade enough to be able to risk a strong bid .

And yet yesterday I arrived home to find a glossy copy of Spink Insider magazine(?) on my door mat.

Seems like maybe they are spending money on the wrong things ...?
