Angel coin privy mark help!

Recommended Posts

Hi there everyone am new to site, hope your all well and sorry to dive straight in with a question but my searches have led me to nothing! So hoping someone here may help!

What privy mark is on 1986 isle of man angel ring 1/10thoz fine gold?

I can find lotsa info on the 1/20th ring of same year, but assume the privy marks would be different, any idea's?

Thanks for your time :)

Mia

Traditionally privy marks indicate a year or sometimes a mint. So I can't see why the marks for issues of same year would be any different.

Though .. without meaning to be rude .. I'm bemused why it would matter for a bit of bullion mounted in a ring ...

But then it's not my sort of thing at all .

Ah, yeah. I came up blank too! But like I say, whle I don't know about the Pobjoy mint (who make these Angels), I'd expect the same year of issue denominations to all bear the same privy mark.

However, as a marketing ploy they (the PM) played many games. One year of the Viking on Horseback sovs, they gave a baby basinet (sp?) privy and then I believe used a ship or such...They also used to sell different one pound coins by varying the mint "officinae" - i.e. AA, AB, BB, AC, etc.

IMO shameful tactics that ultimately probably led to their own downfall.
