Die No. 7 or Die No. 70?

Recommended Posts

Is this coin die number 7 or die number 70. The 7 is very clear but there seems to be a faint 0 next to it. Is this just a mark or a very weakly struck 0? I cannot make my mind up and would value opinions.

Definitely looks like 70 to me and the 7 is positioned in the same place as the die number 71 that I have.

70 to me. Bearing in mind die numbers were part of the mint's 'blame culture' it was in the employee's interest to make it as indistinct as possible!

Thanks to all for the opinions. I had the coin as Die 70 in my records but, looking at it again, I found myself second-guessing that original opinion.
