Hi all. Just wanted to see if anyone can identify these medieval-looking coins that I was recently given. They look hammered - so that is why I guess medieval. All 4 of these coins are the same design. One side features a crown with writing surrounding it and the other side features a crown above a ?harp?, with writing surrounding that. I can't make out much more than that - they're pretty poor quality. Hope someone can help me out - thanks very much!

Welcome to the Forum! Not medieval, I believe they are all farthings of either Charles I or James I, although which monarch and which types I cannot make out! Coinery will doubtless contribute and identify them in a jiffy! Dates would be the first half of the 17th century.

Charles I Richmond farthing tokens -

Should read CARO DG MAG BRI(T) and on the Reverse FRA ET HIB REX

Many varieties with different privy marks that are located above the crown on the Obverse...and a lot of contemporary counterfeits :)

Thanks very much everyone - glad some people know what they're talking about (unlike me)!

Cheers
