First thing is don't clean it other than with soapy water if it is garden dirt. If it is silver and tarnished, leave it. Post a picture under 150kB using the attachment facility below the box you type into, or alternatively use a link to a hosting site such as Photobucket. When we can see what it is, we can better advise what to do.

I'm using an iPhone now, and I haven't a blinking clue! I know we iPhoners drive poor old Peck crazy with our eBay item numbers, instead of 'proper' links! :)

Any Idea how on a iPhone?

Yes, put it away and use a proper computer. :)

iPhone pictures or any other taken on a mobile are usually too poor to be of much use.

The options to add a photo to your post don't appear on the iPhone App for this forum. You will either need to load the discussion board as a full website in the safari browser, which will be difficult to use given the screen size, or use an ipad or computer .

Looks like a George V penny, no value in that condition

David, your eyesight is a lot sharper than mine!

The value of a George V penny will entirely depend upon the date/variety and the condition. So a poor condition example (like yours, sorry) of any date is practically worthless, whereas a coin in perfect condition will range from perhaps £5 for a common date, through £3,000 for a rare date/variety (e.g. 1919KN), to the ultimate 1933 at £80,000+!

For comparison, a typical George V penny in top condition looks like this:

Depends on date and variety.

Even in Uncirculated. A 1935 or 36 may only get £1

I'd happily pay top Spink's book for AC's though! ;)

Not a rare date, unfortunately. If you search "1915 penny" on eBay you'll get an idea what they go for.

I found it in the garden. Wasn't expecting it to be worth much..

It's an interesting looking piece. Looks like it was buried in a high grade from what little I can see. The king's bust looks silver to me, but is that just the flash?

Take a much larger picture, reduce its resolution to below 150k and re-post here, if you feel like it.

It probably isn't worth much, but it could be an interesting curio.

Copper/bronze under ground is a big NO the only stuff which is nice is from the Thames mudlarkers or from a nice sandy soil.
