Hi just wondering if anyone can give me a rough value for silver queen Elizabeth the queen mother commemorative coins 1994. 12 coins in total. In box with original receipts and certificates. And where would be best to sell them please.

That will be possible. Chris, the owner of the site, or any of us on the forum who are dealers would buy scrap silver, but ideally you want to scrap them locally as postage will rapidly eat into any margins and hence the price you receive (which will vary depending on the spot price). Where are you?

If they have silver content certainly they can, are the 12 coins identical? Can you tell us what it says as to silver content and weight on the documentation?

If that is what you have Nathan then the scrap value would be calculated as follows:

Assumptions:

• All 12 coins are Sterling Silver (92.5%)
• Silver price as at 19/09/2013 is $23.11 per troy ounce
• £/$ rate as at 19/09/2013 is 1.603

* Grams per Troy ounce = 31.1

Then the scrap value would be:

362.98g/31.1*23.11/1.603 = £168.26

But you should be able to get more on eBay if they are immaculate with the documentation

Mmm. Assuming these are sterling silver, then there's just under 12 ounces of silver. Current silver price is £15 approx, so scrap value would be around £180. Makes £175 look about right. Beyond this they have little value to a collector, since they aren't the kind of thing that most collectors want.

Edit: Paulus got there first and with a much more specific price at £168.

I was assuming 363g @ .925

Same. Different spot prices and scrap merchants online. Various estimates range from £120 to £165. So somewhere around the £140 mark should be fair.
