Found an English cross penny?

Recommended Posts

Guest colocomp_I'm_a_Guest

Hello, my nephew found what we think is an English cross penny (see picture)

He found it on a farm in Colorado U.S., very remote location. It does appear to be real gold as far as we can tell, it does not leave a streak of lead on white paper.

Any help is great appreciated.

Looks more silver to me...

Anyhow that looks much more Spanish in origin than English.

GD would know more about this than myself...

My feeling is it's Spanish (the cross makes me think that), if it's real, or whatever. I'm afraid i've never one before.

Thanks, you actually were a help, I think it is a Spanish or Mexican - Consolacion 8 Reales -

I think the flash on the camera brightened out the gold tone on the coin.

I am googling it more thank you.

Yeah coins sometimes look very different on photos than they do in person! :D

I've seen copper ones look almost silver on photos and silver ones look almost gold!
