Sixpences, perchance?

I did not get any GB coins through their sales, and only a single at DNW - for which I paid too much in the excitement of competition on-line. BTW, I would have expected to pay LESS for it in a Heritage sale interestingly. Some of their (Heritage's) Thalers, etc. went for very cheap.

BTW - I was quite disappointed by the late milled in Spink, Baldwin & St. James's.

Sticky mattress? Uhh, being ignorant of the term, I think I might have to leave that alone & was a bit concerned with it mentioned in the same reference frame as newlyweds!

Sticky matress = difficulty in rousing oneself in the mornings. Fortunately nothing whatever to do with newlyweds!

Yep, sixpences.

They had an 1821 MS64 which went for $356 plus buyers premium. Nice coin but not uncommon and I already have three of them in EF. So I was interested if I could get it at a reasonable price.

They also had an 1853 MS64 which went for $350. Also a nice coin but I already have an MS65. It went for $350 plus buyers premium. My upper limit was $325 plus premium.

There were a pair of 1902 sixpences, one a proof. But the proof was so ugly in the photo that I was unwilling to put a value on it. So, it would appear were most other bidders. Again, I already have a nicer 1902 proof and two other 1902s, one of them UNC and the other EF. In the end the pair went for $150.

Finally, a very nice lot of four Edward VII sixpences. Nothing I don't already have but nice coins even so and in good grades. That lot went for $500 plus premium. Not a bad price but just a bit more than I wanted to pay especially when you add $87.50 premium. I would rather keep the money for coins I don't already have or for qualitative improvements.

I had one winning bid for this Auction, which was the George IV 1820 Halfcrown, coin arrived on Wednesday.I thought that it would be my final type example for these, however I'm not sure.Few things the picture didn't show.

I think we must ALL be having auction syndrome at the moment! I've had to return 2 of the last 5 eBay purchases (vicky 3d & 1901 HC), which is about my yearly quota ordinarily! :(

I don't know what to do with it,there is a dent on his chin that is barely visible on the photo, and the coin itself looks very bright.

Benny if you didn't view the coin and the coin is not as described then I believe you can return it, you can with most reputable auction houses!! A dent should be described in the description

That makes sense to me. I have had to return a number of lots over the years and have never had a problem getting my money back.

Thank you for the information,I was not sure if anything could be done due to the fact that it was an Auction rather than straight sale.I have had some of my best coins from here and didn't want to upset anyone.

Sorry also to Azda for taking the thread slightly off topic.

Benny it's different if you have viewed the coin but not everybody can get to view every auction, therefore if you go off the auction house's description and it has been mis described you are well within your right to return!!
