Good Evening

Hi guys the forum seems a bit sleepy tonight so I thought I'd take the time to introduce myself, as I plan on annoying you all with my outrageously stupid questions for the foreseen time, as I have caught the bug. My names Conor, 17, and basically a man who was like my grandad passed away, the silver lining of this story is that I've inherited his coin collection. I basically have all sorts from half farthings to half crowns. Currently trying to bring some order to the collection and hopefully I will be able to share it with you guys when I'm done. So what I'm basically doing is welcoming myself aboard ;) hope everyone is feelin patriotic after that fantastic game!

England? Twere'nt bad, I enjoyed it! Sad that Scotland aren't in the frame, it would be great for the overall competition to have them in the mix!

Really glad you're enjoying the coins, good on your grandad that he's shared this all with you!

That is why the forum has been sleepy. :)

Ask away...there are no stupid questions.

If you sort them into denomination then date order you can feed us scraps.

BTW nice goal from Gerrard.

Baines' cross the highlight for me. Like Peter says, I suspect relatively quiet tonight cos of the footie on mainstream TV, and an important game for a change, and lots of goalmouth action in an international, also for a change!! Now you can look forward to cheering on England when Liverpool finish 5th!

A very warm welcome Conor! Looking forward to hearing about/seeing what you have, and what you may be interested in focussing on if you decide to expand the collection! :)

Welcome Connor!

I was at work, so oblivious to the fact that there was a football match. Was it anything important? :P

It was only a World Cup qualifier...;) haha, I'm going to be compiling my half crowns first, could I throw a few pics on here of the better pieces and some of you could give them an average grade ? And we all know liverpool will be finishing in top 2 this season... I am my deluded.....

I would highly recommend Peter Nichols but, alternatively, many auction houses have some in a 'Miscellaneous' section, such as London Coins. It's worth looking around auction houses as you can often pick up a real bargain.

Connor if you do go the coin cabinet route the type of wood is important as the chemicals in some woods can badly effect your coin. Mahogany seems to be the wood of choice.
