I'm out and about today so have had to get someone else to do my bidding. Let's see how that turns out.

Turn the Sound off, it helps the lag. Just a quick thought here, but with Spink stopping coin sales will that mean they'll also stop publication of the yearly Price guide? Anyone know?

forgive me if my questions are foolish, but do you think that the prices some of these coins are going for is a reflection of the draw spink has as a brand/the quality of their grading/the scarcity of the top quality coins they have on offer/or their low estimates?

All of the above.

The main thing driving prices is the scarcity of desirable material. There are a lot of people with a lot of money in their pockets and nowhere to put it. The money supply has been expanded by the additional money that has been printed but the assets remain the same in terms of quantity. Prices as a total have to increase to reflect the amount of money in circulation.

ah QE, as simple as that.....I was impressed by the price that 10 Roubles went for yesterday. People do have a great deal of money...given QE has been going for a while (and in my opinion will go on for a while yet) has this been happening for some time?

I did look at the catalogue a while ago. Nothing for the penny collector :(

Plenty for the hammered penny collector though. ;)

Only 1 Clive?

The forum never seemed to get exited about the Spink auction.(compared to Noble,DHW & LC)

Anyone know who got the Ahhhmmm 1917 L Sovereign?

I think £425 for Lot 761 (Charles I shilling) is just daft. It must have looked much more impressive in the hand to realise that much.

There wasn't much quality Saxon material in it so I'd rather save my money and spend elsewhere. Buy the best you can afford, and so on.
