1948 Sixpence

Found a 1948 sixpence today with k and what looks like a C or a G on the reverse. What would this be? Will put a pic on when I have access to a camera

Probably should say it's quite a small set of two letters under the main design

They are the surname initials of the designer of the reverse: George Kruger Gray.
