Afternoon!

Hi all!

I assume im in the right place just to introduce myself quickly! I'm Tom, I'm 26 and live in London.

Im honest enough to say Im not a coin collector, however despite this, I do have over 2,500 coins that I got from an inheritance and 800 or so I bought the other day at auction!

You may ask why I bought 800 coins from auction if I'm not a collector - not really sure either, I guess they caught my eye - and I thought there may be some gems hidden amongst them, as they were in a very old tin!

Ive been having a good rummage through them and I have spent hours over the last couple of days trawling the net looking at similar coins that I now have.

Anyway, just thought Id drop buy to say bonjour!

It is a slippery slope. But WELCOME.

800 coins in a tin sounds like something I shifted at a car boot a couple of years ago.

May I say never again.

Great to have another new collector (sorry, but you bought some, so you are a collector now) on board, Tom!

I must say we have welcomed more new collectors in the last few months than in the last few years. Something's going on. To be welcomed though.... :)

Welcome Tom! I'm a relatively new collector too (about 2 years in) and trust me, the excitement doesn't fade :)

Good luck on your lots, although I do feel the inherited coins will yield better results than the ones you paid for. Fear not, it's a learning curve which no doubt everyone here has gone through. I know I certainly have! If you find any nice coins be sure to post a few pics ;)

Still been rummaging this evening. Found a couple of 'gold' coins, which I need to do some digging on. I will take some pics of them tomorrow.

Theres nothing better than rummaging through a pile of old coins! thats part of the exitement. especially if they are unchecked by an experienced eye!
