Certainly possible with the 1843 but would need much clearer pics to have any certainty.

6 over 7 maybe? A new variety as far as I can tell!

More likely 6 over displaced 6 or even a 6 of different size.

Scott nice pic of the 6 on the penny, and colin just checked the 43 farthing and sorry no it's not the I for 1 in date. It's a md find in poor condition but clear date and scott this one i have is a clear 4 over 4 just like you have pictured above.

Really difficult to tell with the penny. There seems to be something going on with the 8 too? Possibly the die has been damaged around the date and caused the extra metal to appear?
