Really thinking of buying this

But I am worried if it has been dipped, cleaned or polished, do you mind taking a look and telling me if it has? (the dark round the lettering)

Also what grade do you think?

Why not give it a miss if you think its been dipped or cleaned.

There are hundreds for sale on ebay that have not been cleaned or diped.

It doesn't look dipped or cleaned, and I'd give it GEF as a grade. But there is minor scuffing/scratching on obverse, and as said, there are better examples around. However, if the price is right...

(It would be appreciated if you posted pictures rather than Word documents - I have frequent problems with Word and none of its substitutes would open it. Images, however, I have more options to open with than you could shake a stick at.)

Trust me my coin grading is shocking so i wont guess .I've never had a problem with Dereks coins

Little to no wear but the obverse has digs in the field at 4 o/c and marks on the King's cheek

Nice eBay photo, sweep, but there are better out there! It's worth getting a coin like this spot on, don't settle for anything less than perfect!

I agree with Stuart, in fact pretty much all G6 silver is reasonably affordable in as struck BU with a little patience (depending on one's budget of course!)

The reason I bought this one is that on other crowns above the cross on the crown there a 3 dots, on all I saw they were worn but on this one they wont which suggests it had no wear.

It's 100% about whether you like it yourself, sweep, totally agree! The scratches/digs will affect its appeal to others so, consequently, the value, unfortunately!

Marks don't really affect grade, at least not in the true sense, though grading companies include such things in their numeric assessment, and subsequently grade the coin having included them!

You could take a coin straight from the press with a hole dug in the queen's cheek by the unfortunate fall of another coin...technically and correctly called UNC, however, CGS won't see it that way!

Why bother? Just learn to grade properly such that you can do it without feeling you have to pay to gain an opinion on grade. I haven't seen your coin but I will give it genuine, with a little bit of wear - That will be ten pounds please. If you want a number on it, that will be another tenner. Thanks.

If you want the slabs for protection there are some that can easily be opened, or you can put them in capsules.

I like the 1937 crown, but being a type collector am content with having the proof set example, rather than a separate non-proof.
