Collecting surprise

Recommended Posts

Last weekend I tried to sort out my fishing gear.

I found I had 36 reels and 25 rods .

Mrs Peter gave me the dagger eyes.

It was touche when I muttered shoes.

Has anyone else gone over the top on hobbies?

It probably wasn't the best time to ask her if I can have a Lotus Elan.

(Or a couple more Mrs Peters) :)

My numismatic library takes up the best part of two rooms. :) She doesn't like it when I encroach on the living room.

She complains that my rubbish occupies every room in the house - a complete distortion of the truth as I refuse to store things in either the upstairs or downstairs loo - and the bathroom is devoid of books.

Fortunately my wife is a quilter - her stuff takes up more space than my coin and books :)

My fishing gear went beserk .Ended up having a big shop and going to belgium and italy buying tackle for a few years. How i wish i had bought a maggot farm thirty years ago.Although the amount of turnover is a lot less now, would of been a nice easy number.I worked on one as a kid that was owned by my mates dad.,When my mate died at 25 they were doing over two thousand gallons a week.A lot different now struggling to sell two hundred gallon

Once I've digitised all my photos and slides (probably 1/3 of the way through) they will take up less space!

Do you know what has always fascinated me? That you are obviously SO passionate about photography, yet opted instead to scan your other great love? I'm surprised you never tied the two together.

I'm furious, just think on what we're missing! :)

Yes, I do realise the irony! However, when I first scanned everything, it was simply to put lifesize images on my database for insurance purposes. Now unfortunately, disability has advanced to the point where I'm able to carry a camera around on my scooter, but not able to hunch over a camera on a tripod with a lighting system etc etc. And as all you who've done it will know, lighting is everything.

You're not a Mod are you, Peck? I loved the Jam and Selector! Was never that fussed by The Who, but had a couple of squirrel tails once? :D

Alert, Alert, Alert...only a nurse can say this (hopefully)? ;)

I'll get my coat!

Hahaha - I was a would-be Mod (born too young :D ) and a bit too old for credibility in the late 70s resurgence. I did have a Lambretta though, and I've always preferred the Small Faces to Gene Vincent. I've always loved The Who too but they weren't real Mods, they were a temporary creation of their then-manager. Having said that, My Generation was the first punk rock album, the first heavy metal album, the first Art Rock album .. not bad for a group being passed off as Mods!

I like the Jam also but you were either a mod or a skinhead in the late 70s early 80s sothe specials and madness win the day. Then it was onto the new tomantic phase as they seem to be getting all the women ;)

Late 70s early 80s my music taste was too eclectic to dress for any particular genre! (and still is!) Saw so many, such great memories, it was an amazing time for music.

In 1978 alone I saw Madness, the Specials, Pistols, Clash, Blondie, Abba, Queen, Camel, Tangerine Dream, The Who, Genesis, Floyd, The Stones, Led Zep, Tangerine Dream, Barclay James Harvest, Dylan, The Motors, Eddie and the Hotrods, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Human League (early weird stuff like 'Being Boiled'), Hawkwind, Ian Dury .... and probably others.

So lots of genres, prog, heavy rock, rock, pop, folk rock, punk, mod ...

Back to the theme, I would collect all the tickets and programmes :)

I don't remember the who doing any gigs in 1978 , had they not just had the death of keith to put up with ?

If they did any gigs that year it was only one or two in london with kenny jones
