Been mentioned and would like to ask before i put the coin away.

Apart from the belly button its a P.T. and the die clash .The feature to the left of the shield and the belly button should not be there.

Can anyone see other features on the reverse of this penny ?.

Pete,

The usual feature for the ground level to the left hand side of the shield is a triangular feature on the PT reverse, on the OT reverse it is flatter, similar to this coin,

this however has probably been distorted by the obvious fault, not a die clash in my opinion, nothing on the Obverse die corresponds to this feature in shape, size

or position, if something had fallen and attached to the die the feature would be incuse not raised.

The 'belly button' is more apparent on OT reverses

Does not seem to be much happening on the forum recently.

One that is toned which normally i would keep away from as its really dark and the photo not the best.

IMO is a nice even tone and a nice strike.

Pete's 1861 Penny. In the early days CGS pics weren't too good (they are not brilliant even now!). You can see it's a lovely coin though!

Thanks paul the coin was graded 82 and quite nice in hand.

I sent 22 last time and although was happy with the grades the photos were terrible.

It makes it harder to resell some as buyers want the uin and in the process of having a lot of them photographed and wish i had done so before slabbing

One of the ones i have is finest known and a good grade.

Its got good lustre and looks nice.

1892 and cgs 33386.

Its stopped me sending anymore as the pictures look almost black and white.

Wasnt happy in general and sure they could take better pictures ,considering its part of the service they provide.

I have sent 2 coins back to them in the past that were over-exposed, they re-slabbed and re-photographed them foc - much better but they need to realise that the pics are a very important part of the package.

I saw their set-up when I visited them last year. It was (and probably still is) an Olympus compact on a fixed structure, with a single source of artificial light from a desk lamp type source, at an angle
