I am led to believe you can bid over the phone although not something i have done,so not sure.

Well that's rubbish 

I don't even think you can bid over the phone (unless you do it prior to the day)!

I know a couple of people who have bid live over the phone but they were high prices ,dont know if that makes a difference.

Then maybe? Perhaps if you're a regular too it helps? I'm not sure on the rules, while it doesn't say you can bid over the phone on the day, it also doesn't say you can't..

Has anybody see the two magnificent offerings Colin Cooke is making this month. Can't give pictures as they're small. black and white, and in a magazine. But.....wait for it.....:-

1919KN (F187) uncirculated with good lustre on both sides £1,950.00

1926 modified effigy (F195) BU full lustre, exceptional. Slabbed as CGS80 and as such it is certainly one of the finest known - a mere snip at £4,500.00

Wow

I'm sure you can opt to bid by telephone on the day. I've been to many of their auctions and you can see Semra and others ringing bidders shortly before their lot comes up. You just run the risk that you might be in the loo when the key coin comes up. I've just checked their catalogues and while they don't explicitly describe an online telephone bidding process (perhaps they don't want to encourage people to do this as it would require extra staff), as I've said above, I have seen it happen on many occasions.

Sorry Mike, I'm confusing myself here, I don't know why I said Pies! And the pictures in the catalogue are black and white anyway so there is only so much you can tell from them  the quality is good enough to get the gist!

I had a good pore over these at the Midland on Sunday, but couldn't quite persuade myself to take the plunge. The 1919 apparently was sourced from France, the 1926 was from the last LCA of course.

Expensive for sure, but Neil Paisley will usually start reducing the price or offering on e bay if they don't shift fairly quickly. So watch this space.

Yes, where they paid £3000 + 17% commission, so £3510 in total. £1k profit if they sell at that price

Those Colin Cooke pennies are on the cover of the catalogue, in colour, which can be downloaded as a PDF from their website if anyone hasn't seen it already.  They look lovely to me, which is easy to say as they are completely out of my league!  Hope they find good homes.

Also as Jerry mentioned it was in the last LCA auction you can have a look at the CGS images of the 26 ME in the Decmeber results on their website. But you'll need the pdf to see kn penny though.

Unfortunately, the coins don't seem to be on the Coin Cooke website yet, and I don't get the PDF from them. But I've taken a quick snap of the front cover 1919KN.
