Books

Recommended Posts

Hi, i recently took up metal detecting as I was advised by my GP to get some excersies. it was either jogging or Detecting.

I am looking for a good book to give me an idea of what I am finding, coin wise that is not 7 up cans. I keep coming across the name Freeman and his numbers, but judging by a post on here his work may not be what I am after. Can you suggest a good book that lists a good selection of old coins and what I should be looking out for, (unusual stuff).

Thanks

Probably Spinks 'Coins of England' catalogue would get you out of trouble for most coin finds? It's an annual publication, so an older one could be picked up very cheaply!

Do feel free to post your finds on here! Quite a few of the chaps are detectorists on here! :)

Welcome Picard

I would suggest Spinks book or Coincrafts 2000 edition.

With these two you should be able to ID most things.

Post a picture on here and we will help.
