Recommended Posts

Hi,I have a George VI Three penny bit, which has a German pfennig inserted into the opposite side. The pfennig is dated 1949 and depicts a young lady planting an oak tree. Can anyone tell me if this is rare?Thank you,post-8659-0-71877700-1423658913_thumb.jppost-8659-0-06103200-1423658915_thumb.jp

Probably unique unless the person who made it has OCD. It's value will not be great however as these are of little/no interest to coin collectors.

Rare? I suspect it's unique Polly. Unfortunately unique doesn't necessarily mean worth a fortune!

It's interesting (and there are some people who collect such things) but falls a little outside mainstream coin collecting. Making it very difficult to suggest a value I'm afraid.

If it has any family history I'd personally keep it as a memento.

I hope that helps a bit? Oh, and welcome to the forum!

Edit: Must learn to type faster or keep my answers shorter!

Yes thanks Polly and welcome to the forum.

Looks like England and Germany were getting very close in 1949.

cheers Garrett.
