On Sunday morning I felt unwell.

Heart was racing and balance was dodgy.

So we went to the A&E.

After 4 hours I was seen,blood taken and BP checked.(BP 210 :o )

A look of concern and an ECG was required.

Results of the ECG and I was admitted to the hospital (take your overnight bag was mentioned)

Many tests, X-Ray of the chest,BP and blood sugar taken every few hours.

I have had 4 saline drips and 4 Vitamin B drips and BP pills increased.

I still felt dizzy and ill.

Monday and starting to feel better (another night in hospital)

Today I was seen again by another of the hospital doctors.

BP down and feeling much better.

I pleaded to go home.

Once the paperwork was completed Mrs Peter could come and get me.

A couple more pills to take and a visit to the GP next week plus the diabetes nurse ( I have type 2 controlled by diet)

I must say the nurses and Drs were brilliant and overworked.

Also anyone who still smokes on a regular basis think about giving up the wards are full of them.

I'm not out of the woods yet but it is great to be home. :)

Crickey, hope you're OK Peter?

That all sounds very strange, surely not connected to your diabetes, not diet-managed type 2 at least?

Your chemistry must've been all over the place if they were testing you that regularly? Any further tests, or are you sorted now?

Stay safe,

Stuart

Your BP is about twice the normal rate, did they increase your BP medicine levels? Also the dizziness may have been dehydration, since it took 4 saline drips to stabilize you. My wife has a tendency to become dehydrated, so she drinks a lot of lo-cal Gator-aid (G2)to keep hydrated. It works!

Wow. Sorry to hear that Peter. But I'm glad you're home now and hope you're soon feeling fully recovered and that the appointments next week and pills do the trick.

I thought it was quite on here for a while ....

But seriously, look after yourself!

A good example of how well the NHS actaully performs, despite what politicians tell us. At the risk of this becoming the medical corner, I went to my GP for the first time in years on Monday at 10.00 am with an eye problem. I had a call from the local hospital at 4.00pm offering me an appointment the following day at noon. Attended, given a load of tests, after which the consultant announces that I've got a torn retina and he'll fix it in a jiffy with his laser. Walked out of the hospital at 2.00, good as new. So all of 30 hours from initial visit to the GP to diagnosis and treatment. Could I have done better in the private system? Doubt it. So, I take with a pinch of salt all the tales of woe about the NHS that we keep hearing about. It ain't like that round here.

I've had a persistent cough since Boxing Day! Went to the GP a fortnight ago, had blood tests and an X-ray the following morning...now here's the excellent bit, I had a text confirming my chest x-Ray was clear that same afternoon, less than 5 hours after I left the hospital!

That's what I call an awesome service!

We do have to remember though that the private work of a lot of the consultants does bring in revenue to the NHS hospitals as well!

Not sure about that. Show me a 1689 in EF and I reckon I'll faint with a rush of blood to the head.

Wow, that's an amazing freak of a coin! Blimey, you don't get many of those to the pound!

That'll shake Peter out of his bed! :)

It's a pair struck on a Charles II halfpenny. It's the piece in footnote 2 on p.155 of Peck.

Thanks for the good wishes.

It was my nephews/godsons wedding in North Yorkshire this Saturday but was advised not to travel :(

Hotel/Kennel cancelled and my sister is travelling down tomorrow to pick up my mum and aunt.

My daughters are travelling up with their boyfriends and making a holiday of it.Mr nephew Dr Hull (very proud)

will hopefully get a visit in the summer when everything has settled down.

I will try and coincide with the Wakefield coin fair .

It was my 1st in patient visit and the whole experience was way over expectations fantastic but under staffed.

The village where I live has an ambulance which tends to park up on the Drs surgeries carpark (we have a couple of old peoples homes)

and it can cover all the surrounding villages in a much shorter time.I can assure you it is busy and a Godsend for us yokels.

Mrs Peter has given me permission to coin it for a few days as long as I do tea duties and knock together a few meals.

Seems fair. :)

Don't want to feel like this again and Debbie red wine / booze is not even on the agenda to any excess and has been the same for a long time.

Not to have another pint of ABBOT or RUDDLES would kill me off.

My mum had a stent fitted at 55 and is still singing and dancing at 81.

Take care the lot of you.
