I'm always going to struggle with coins that are nearly a thousand years old and look like this! 231535561239

I think I've got Ashmore and Grunal to thank for all this.

It all looks to type, but I just couldn't go there! Things seem so much easier once you move into the short-cross coinage of Henry II

How many of the Edwards are you going to be collecting again?

Also, pardon my ignorance, why wasn't Edward the Confessor Edward I?

In English common law nothing happened before the Norman conquest and the Domesday Book, all previous titles and property rights have no standing.

This coin is typical of York examples from a hoard which was questionably disbanded... Genuine but I wouldn't be overly comfortable owning it.
