Great fun :)

What model have you got Dave? There are some serious players in the market now that the drone scene has really kicked off.

I'm amazed at the stability of the image. Very impressive.

It's a Yuneec Q500+, a new kid on the block by all accounts and its reviews are kicking ass against the more established names. One of the reasons I went for it was image quality, if I had waited 2 week I could have got the 4k for 100 euros more but I've read that the camera can be upgraded to the 4k for 100 euros.

The service on it seems to be quite high also, people have had their quad repaired and sent back within 8 days plus they are here in Germany, so another plus side. I'd been slowly learning how to use it for the little time I'd been out, so the video was just my real first attempt at letting it go a little and filming, hopefully it will all get better in time.

Went to the Olympia park on Saturday morning but the video was'nt great, so another attempt this weekend while feeling more confident controlling it.

Trainers are an optional extra Nordle ;)

Image quality is fantastic, I would love to buy one but the missus would have different ideas :(

Also a little worried about legislation banning where you can fly them as recently there have been a number of storied in the press about inapropriate use. One pilot reporting a near miss with a drone as he was comming into land at an airport.

Hahaha, damn I thought they came as a bulk deal with the drone

It's got really good recording quality and the reviews look great too. I've gone through about 3 so far but the best I've seen (not bought but had a play on it) is the DJI drone phantom. The image stability is insane, and it comes with a lot of cool features the others don't too.

I'm actually waiting on something that was a kickstarter project which starts shipping in February next year, it's an amazing piece of kit and cannot wait to play around with it.

Here's a video, sorry but I actually don't have an option to embed it if someone could?

I think restrictive legislation is inevitable given the equally inevitable lack of responsibility exhibited by mankind. If people could relate landing it by smacking it into their own face compared to flying it into someone or something else (such as a plane) there would be no need to pass laws. Sadly, this is just wishful thinking. Without people having to pass a 'driving test', or better still for some, having a lobotomy, it will only take one or possibly two accidents at the most to spoil the fun.

Anyone who uses these must know what is restricted, for instance there is an absolute no fly zone within 1.5 miles of an airport, so whoever used it around the airport is just an idiot. Most restrictions come in to play when it weighs more than 5kg, mine is around 1.5kg. I'm looking for insurance for it incase of any eventualities as Germany is renowned for suing people, so that's on my list.

Nordle, I had the DJI but the Typhoon Q500 is practically a fly out of the box drone, just set the compass and you're away, I found the DJI more of a pain and sent it back and exchanged for the Yuneec

Ah I see! That's what I didn't get from flying it around I guess, as it was someone else's I assumed it was 'plug and play' so to speak.

I guess the DJI is for the guys who spend hours a day working with them as opposed to the majority that just want to fly them around for a while every few days/weeks. I'll have to check out more on this Yuneec in that case.

This was from last Saturday at the Olympia park. Turn the sound down, I forgot to do it on the camera itself.

Again I just can't believe the stability of the drone, and the consequent filming.

Lol, it's the pilot who's unstable, not the drone

Anybody know if you can buy a drone that looks like a buzzard or large hawk? Anything to shoo away the pigeons and seagulls. The alternative is an air gun, which might be OK for the pigeons but is a no-no for the seagulls.

The air rifle would be the cheaper option :)

But then I've got to clear up the bodies, whereas with a drone I get the fun of chasing the little buggers. Somehow I think that pea-brained pigeons wouldn't get the idea unless I left a pile of bodies around, whereas continuous harrassment with a buzzard would keep 'em off for good. Plus there's the potential for an armed response vehicle turning up after the neighbours start to report a rifle sticking out of the window. How much are they by the way - drones, not air guns.

You can Start at the smaller end for maybe around £50-£80, i went in at the deeper end and spent 1300 euros not to mention the replacement propellers i've had to buy due to hard landings and tipping sideways onto them, 2 sets are cheap enough though at 13 euros a set. Spare batteries cost 75 euros. I'm running at around 1450 euros just now :D

Could have bought a coin with that lol

So, another small outing, this time to Scloss (Castle) Nymphenburg, it's more a Palace than Scloss. This ins about 3km from where i live. Neuschwanstein is next in the list :)

Absolutely beautiful!

Amazed at the stability of the platform offered by these machines, though looks to have been a still evening. You live in a wonderful area, though I see even German palace lawns are plagued by moles!
